The Beatles

The Beatles were formed in 1960 with drummer Pete Best being replaced by Ringo Starr in 1962. The Beatles are credited for leading the British invasion of music into the US in the 1960's and this was boosted by their legendary appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr went on to make history. Typical of music in the early 1960's the songs were relatively short and the lyrics were simple.
