2001 Space Odyssey

When this movie was released in 1968, 2001 seemed like forever in the future. It slipped up on us all very quickly. This movie will always be a classic and all the techo-geeks in the world were infatuated with HAL. That was the era when computers were a mystery to most people and computers were massive machines taking up large amounts of floor space. It was also an era in which IBM was king of the main frame computer. The rumor at the time was that if you added one letter to the famous computer in the movie, HAL; The "H" becomes and "I", the "A" becomes a "B", and the "L" becomes an "M" - and of course you have "IBM."
